I love the seasons! I am happy to live in a place where we experience all four seasons and the beauties of them. Of course, not everything about each season is beautiful, but that makes those amazing moments or days so special.
I saw a mom with 2 little boys in the store the other day and it brought back such sweet memories of my life when I had 2 little boys. Do I miss those days? Well, yes and no. My boys were certainly super cute when they were 3 and 5, but they are still super fun to be with and I like my relationship with them now that they are 20 and 23. Plus, my youngest hadn’t been born then and I am grateful that I have him in my life. There’s a beauty in each age and stage. And just like the four seasons, everything about each age and stage is not beautiful, but it makes those beautiful moments or days so special.
In the Bible it says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecc 3:1). The changing seasons of the year and the changing seasons of our lives are part of a plan. Sometimes we may wish to cling to the last of the lazy days of summer, or the beauty of the new green spring, or the perfect fall day, or that pristine first snowfall, or that 7-month-old happy baby, or the wonderful family vacation, or that time when our kids could do things for themselves and still thought we were the most wonderful people in the world! But, as they say, life goes on. The moments come and go. And we are left with treasured memories of those times.
There is a time to every purpose under heaven. This time was given to me and you by God for a purpose. The memories of our beautiful days have a purpose. We learn about ourselves and God by reflecting on His beauty and His purpose.
Ask God what His purpose is for you today. Ask Him to show you beauty today. Spend time listening for His answer and pay attention to the beauty that comes your way.
